COMMUNICATION STRATEGY ON CONSULATE GENERAL OF
REPUBLIC INDONESIA KOTA KINABALU SABAH MALAYSIA
IN SOCIALIZING CITIZEN
SERVICE TO INDONESIAN MIGRANT WORKER
This research entitled Communication
Strategy on Consulate General of Republic Indonesia Kota Kinabalu Sabah
Malaysia in Socializing Citizen Service to Indonesian Migrant Worker. It
has purpose to know communication strategy has been done by Consulate General
of Republic Indonesia Kota Kinabalu in socializing citizen service to
Indonesian migrant worker.
This is a qualitative research with descriptive methods. To collect
data, it uses observation and in-depth interview. Informants come from
functionaries and staff of Consulate General of Republic Indonesia Kota
Kinabalu also Indonesian Migrant Worker using purposive sampling. Data analysis
is done by interactive analysis through data collection, data reduction, data
display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity in this research is source
triangulation.
This research conclude that communication strategy has been used by
Consulate General of Republic Indonesia Kota Kinabalu is make a synergy with activities
by Consulate General of Republic Indonesia Kota Kinabalu, interpersonal
communication between local staff and Indonesian migrant worker, cooperation
with external parties, make a closer relation with Indonesian migrant worker
through formal or non formal activities, and using several medias such as
announcement board, website, social media, letter and SMS, leaflet and
information pocket book, also radio broadcast. The obstacles are a wider region
and bigger number of Indonesian Migrant Worker. Indonesian Migrant Worker feel
that those strategies are not effective enough and most of them still do not
know about citizen service programme.
